Why will the digital SAT be shorter?
A digital version of SAT may even take less time than the paper SAT. This is due to a few factors. The passages of a digital SAT, for example, are short and only contain one question. It would be easier to read and take less time to answer each question.
What is the schedule for test day? The College Board has stated that students will still need to arrive between 7:45 and 8 a.m., local time. The proctor will then check in each student. Students would then be seated at their seats. The proctor will read a script around 8:15 or 8:30 am. The proctor will provide a code for the students to enter and start testing. The students can choose whether or not to display the countdown timer in their app while taking the test.
The test will be split into two sections, with a 10-minute intermission for students to leave the classroom and de-stress after taking the test. The timer on each student’s app will expire, ending the test at that point. This student is dismissed quietly because other students may still be taking the test around them due to different start times.
